GOP candidate Marc Holtzman (cq, right) lost his appeal before the Colorado Supreme Court Thursday June 22, 2006 effectively ending his campaign to become the Republican candidate for governor. Holtzman made the announcement surrounded by his staff, volunteers and friends Thursday at his campaign headquarters and immediately threw his support behind fellow Republican Bob Beauprez, who he had been running against. For the past three weeks, Holtzman has been fighting a ruling by Colorado Secretary of State Gigi Dennis that he had not collected enough petition signatures in the 1st and 7th congressional districts to win a spot on the Aug. 8 Republican primary ballot. Holtzman speaks as his fiance Kristin Hubbell (cq, left) listens on in the background. The two are to be married July 8th and Holtzman joked that now he may have a bit more time to help with the wedding planning. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Marc Holtzman and Kristin Hubbell
