KAS084 Volunteer Don O'Connor (cq) tosses a piece of splintered wood from the roof of the barn behind him into a trash pile at The Urban Farm in Stapleton on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. The barn's roof was torn off and an adjacent building was picked up and dropped a few away by a sudden burst of wind on Monday, according to Donna Garnett (cq), executive director of The Urban Farm. "We know it wasn't a tornado," she said, "the best anyone can guess it was a microburst." About 25 students were out with their horses as part of an equestrian class when they saw what Garnett described as a "wall of sand" approaching from the southwest and took shelter in another barn. "Everyone was saying, 'Are we in Kansas?'" said Garnett. Garnett said the buildings on the farm are built to withstand high winds and are bolted to the ground, but the wind "ripped the bolts right out of the ground."
