Reginald Richey, CQ, 63, of Lincoln, New Mexico, describes the trauma inflicted to the leg of his friend and renowned artist Luis Jimenez who died while moving a portion of a 32-foot-tall sculpture called Mustang that he was finishing-up for the city of Denver to be placed outside the Denver International Airport main terminal in August. He stands next to a a 1995 self portrait by artist Luis Jimenez which he bought from his friend and has proudly displayed in his home in Lincoln New Mexico. Jimenez had been paid $300,000 of a $450,000 commission for the Mustang sculpture in 1992 when he began the project. The Lincoln County sheriff's office said Jimenez "suffered a severe trauma" to one of his legs and was taken to Ruidoso, N.M., to be hospitalized and pronounced dead. In the portrait Jimenez's left eye is grey which he later replaced with a brown glass eye.
