On December 2, 2005 in Lamar, at the Neoplan bus manufacture the last bus on the line destined for the streets of Pittsburgh gets it's finishing touches. The buses have been rolling off the line since 1981 and will close in January. Southeastern Colorado has been dealt two big setbacks in recent days. Neoplan said it would close its bus manufacturing plant in Lamar, and Bay Valley Foods in La Junta said it would shut down its pickle plant. About 450 total jobs are lost. It's a dreary holiday season in the region, as workers and econ development officials try to recover. (photo by Linda McConnell/Rocky Mountain News)
