(Denver, Colorado, 12/1/2005) Tana Ryan ( cq) has been given a 20 year sentence for selling two ounces of meth to an undercover police officer. She had prior prison time for repeat traffic violations, which may have influenced the judge to give her a harsh sentence for a non-violent crime. The rate of female prisoners is growing at twice the rate as the male prisoners and meth addiction may be one of the reasons. Tana finishes up sanding the top of a toilet paper dispenser in woodshop. Inmates are paid 60 cents a day for their work. She said without her woodshop class, she would go absolutely crazy. (JUDY DEHAAS/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) Tana Ryan ( cq)
