MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS SHOT 12/11/2003 - Some of the top snowboarders in the world spent Thursday getting aquainted with the slopestyle course and superpipe at Breckenridge Thursday while practicing for this weekend's Mountain Dew Pro Nationals, one of three stops on the Vans' Triple Crown of Snowboarding. The event kicks off the North American snowboard season and attracts such names as Olympic medalists Ross Powers, J.J. Thomas, Danny Kass and Kelly Clark as well as many of the other top names in the sport. The Mountain Dew Pro Nationals consist of three events - Slopestyle, Superpipe and Rail Jam and goes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Breckenridge. A competitor starts rotating a 360 off a tabletop hit Thursday afternoon in the Freeway Terrain Park while practice runs were going on.
