APRIL 15, 2004 - YUMA PROVING GROUND, AZ -- Hollywood stunt pilot Dan Rudert moves in to capture a parachuting dummy capsule at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona Thursday morning, April 15, 2004. This was a practice session in preparation for the Sept. 8, 2004 return of the Denver-built Genesis capsule at the end of its 20-million mile, nearly-three-year journey collecting atoms from the sun in solar wind. The capsule from the Genesis spacecraft holds sensitive and fragile wafers that have collected the sought-after solar atoms. This mid-air capture technique, the first NASA has ever attempted from a live space mission return flight, will be undertaken to ensure safe return of the collection wafers.
