On Saturday, December 17, 2005, at about 2:23 a.m., Aurora Police were called to an apartment at 10693 E. Exposition Ave. on a report of a shooting. The shooting suspect is identified as Thomas Charles Taylor DOB 4-8-80. Photos of Thomas are being included with this release. Thomas is considered to be armed and dangerous. He faces charges of Attempt Murder in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree. Upon the arrival of officers, two victims (a male and female) suffering from gunshot wounds were located. The male sustained gunshot wounds to an extremity, while the female sustained a gunshot wound to her upper torso. Both parties were transported to an area hospital. The injuries to the male victim are not considered life threatening. The female victim remains in critical condition as a result of her injuries. The male victim’s identity is not being released. The female victim is identified as Renee Denise Muniz DOB 8-7-68. (You may recall that Ms. Muniz was recently charged with Child Abuse Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury for the attack on her 10-year-old son by three Pit Bulls. This case is not believed to be in any way connected to those charges.) At this time, our investigators have determined that the following events occurred prior to the shooting: A female involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend had gone to the apartment on E. Exposition Ave. to retrieve her personal belongings. She was accompanied by Renee and the male victim of the shooting. As the three parties spoke with the person that had answered the door to the apartment, the male involved in the domestic dispute approached them from behind, while armed with a handgun. Renee was shot, and the shooter attempted to run away. The male victim began chasing the shooter when he too was shot. The shooting suspect and the person that answered the door to the apartment fled the area before the arrival of officers. Both parties are being sought at this time.
