Michael L. Williams (cq, left), 42, gets his temperature checked by volunteer Trish Dey (cq, right) of Denver before getting a flu shot Thursday December 8, 2005 at the Project Homeless Connect Denver event. Project Homeless Connect Denver was held for the first time in conjunction with 21 other cities across the U.S. today in an effort to connect the homeless with a wide variety of services in one location. The event was held at the Colorado Convention Center and is modeled after a long-time, successful program in San Francisco. The event was a partnership between Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, Denver's Department of Human Services and the Mile High United Way. Williams said he became homeless after his father's death in 2003 drove him to drinking and doing drugs. (MARC PISCOTTY / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Michael L. Williams and Trish Dey
