(NEDERLAND, Co., SHOT 6/7/2004) University of Colorado professor Tad Pfeffer (center) directs the assembly of a ground penetrating radar device that he and others will use to measure the amount of snowpack in the Arapaho Glacier near Nederland. Scientists from the University of Colorado have been studying the effects of global warming on the Arapaho Glacier near Nederland for about five years. Using new techniques such as radar, the scientists are hoping to find the total amount of snowpack in the glacier and the long-term net loss of snowpack because of global warming.
