(NEDERLAND, Co., SHOT 6/7/2004) Rob Bauer (left) of Boulder and Ted Scambos (right) of Lafayette trek down a slope with some of the ground penetrating radar equipment strapped to their backs in the Arapaho Glacier near Nederland. Bauer is a research assistant at CU and Scambos is a professor at the school. Scientists from the University of Colorado have been studying the effects of global warming on the Arapaho Glacier near Nederland for about five years. Using new techniques such as radar, the scientists are hoping to find the total amount of snowpack in the glacier and the long-term net loss of snowpack because of global warming.
