(AURORA, CO., OCTOBER 26, 2004) Troy Merrick, 20, rt, and his stepfather, Mike Lesar sit on the rooftop of their house at 3382 S. Grape St. (address okay to publish) just north of Hampden Ave. , with a homemade spider, named "Boris"--part of their elaborate Halloween decorations they use every year. Mike, with the help of the rest of the family--Troy, his brothers Trevor, 18, and Corey, 26, and their mom, (and Mike's wife) Susan Lesar, made most of their decorations, and on Halloween night, they turn their front yard into a kind of haunted house, dressing up in costumes and, as Susan put it, "we scare the whole neighborhood." Mike and Susan made the spider with chicken wire and wood for the main body, and pvc pipes for the legs, all covered in fake fur, which took a couple of weeks to make in time for last year's Halloween. More and more people come to their house every year. "They keep coming back," says Mike. (Photo By ELLEN JASKOL/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
