Photo special to the News/Penter Aengst.Johan field in the upper Green River Valley near Pinedale, Wyoming. Beneath the sagebrush plains crucial to tens of thousands of big-game animals and one of the state's largest concentration of greater sage-grous, lies trillions of cubic feet of natural gas. This valley, cradle3d between the Wind River, Wyoming and Gros Ventre mountain ranges, is ground zero for one of the most contentious wildlife-haman conflics in the West. Migrating pronghorn, mule deer, elk and other wildlife squeeze twice a year through a natural corridor that now must pass through this and other fields. This is also winter range for mule deer.
