(DENVER, Co., SHOT 9/28/2004) Colorado School of the Deaf and Blind head coach Joe Manson, who is himself also hearing impaired, communicates with referee Bill Percy of Colorado Springs by writing out players names and instructions on a note pad. Percy said he usually referees at least one game a year at the school and said they don't make any special concessions when the team plays. The Colorado School of the Deaf and Blind plays eight man football on the school's campus in Colorado Springs against Front Range Christian from Littleton. All team members have at least a degree of hearing loss and is aided in the snap count by a large drum to help with the cadence on the snap count. They fought hard all game long, even into the fourth quarter when they were down 42-0, but fell to Front Range Christian 48-12. (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
