(2/23/05, Aspen, CO) South Beach residents and Aspen tourists Carmen Wong, and Mess Anger (cq) window shop in Aspen one afternoon. The town has a huge tourist industry and caters to the ultra rich. If the ski industry were to go away, there would be, in turn, a huge negative impact on the economy there. "A Change in the Air" - This is part of a series on climate change and this story is about the likely effects of climate change on the Colorado ski industry. Auden Schendler, director of environmental affairs at Aspen, says the industry will be dead in 50 years unless global emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases are cut bigtime.
