(DENVER, Co. - SHOT 3/30/2005) Five year-old Denver International School kindergartner Rachel Smith (center) of Denver stretches out during ballet class after school Wednesday. Students at the school can take the one-hour ballet class from the Academy of Russian Ballet once a week. The Denver International School, a kindergarten through eighth grade full-immersion language school, will have to move from its current location on South Race Street to the old Machbeuf High School location at the end of the school year. The prestigious private school had bought the building in 2001 but will have to move because of financial problems. About 220 children attend the school and are immersed in either french, spanish or mandarin chinese from the start. Smith is studying mandarin chinese at the school.
