(DENVER, Colo., June 1, 1952) The last stand in the now abandoned old home of the Rocky Mountain News at 1720 Welton St. was made yesterday by the editorial staff, whose typewriters and pencils were an island of labor in a sea of emptiness and moving men. The news of the city and the world was written and on its way into type when the island finally gave up and formed the tail end of the exodus to the sparkling new plant at 400 W. Colfax Ave. In the foreground are the reporters and editors of the city staff, in the background the copy desk men and the artist's corner. (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS FILE PHOTO)
