KEY PLAY -- The record will always show that Rod Smith was pushed out of bounds with 12 minutes, 4 seconds to play in the second quarter on the first Sunday in November. It will always show it as a 9-yard completion from Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer to Smith. But in reality it was a slice of franchise history. With the play Smith became the Broncos all-time leader in receptions with 676, passing former Denver tight end Shannon Sharpe. Smith also caught a touchdown pass later in the game, giving him 56 in his career -his 677th catch of his career. He is now the franchise's all-time leader in touchdowns as well, also passing Sharpe there as well. Smith came into the day as the Broncos all-time leader in receiving yards at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004. (Photo by JOE MAHONEY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
