Hillel Ben-Avi was found at 1:50 p.m. this afternoon in the Hague Creek drainage area of the Mummy Range. Hillel was waving at a helicopter with a makeshift flag. The area where he was found is northwest of the summit of Fairchild Mountain, the point where he was last seen by his brother. He was flown out by helicopter, transferred to an ambulance at the park’s helibase at Upper Beaver Meadows and taken to the Estes Park Medical Center. When Hillel was found he was tired and hungry but medical personnel decided to admit him overnight for further observation and treatment for dehydration. Park rangers plan to interview Hillel tomorrow morning to learn further details about this incident. Park staff had been searching for Ben-Avi since Sunday evening and were assisted by Larimer County Search and Rescue, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Alpine Rescue, Front Range Search and Rescue Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado and a variety of individual resources from other teams and organizations.
