(Pueblo, Colo., April 21, 2004) Gary Bidwell, a melting supervisor, is silouetted by molten steel during a tap iin the production plant at Rocky Mountain Steel Mills in Pueblo. He was the first employee hired by Oregon Steel after the USAW went on strike more than six years ago and the first to cross picket lines at Rocky Mountain Steelmills in Pueblo, Colorado. The Mill, (formerly CF&I) owned by Oregon Steel Mills Company, has reached an agreement with the United Steel Workers of America Union to end a six and a half year strike. It was the longest USWA strike in U.S. history. The company and Unions need to find a way to put the strike behind them so the mill can survive in a very competitive global market.
