The Arvada Police Department issued a warrant for a 26-year-old former assistant softball coach at Arvada West High School on two charges of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust (class three felony and a class four felony), and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor (class four felony). Arvada police detectives launched an investigation of John Craco (DOB: 1/11/1979) based on information of a possible crime relayed to the police from Arvada West High School officials earlier this month. It's alleged that Craco had a sexual relationship with a female student at the school, as well as provided alcohol to female students. Craco turned himself into the Jefferson County Court today (Friday, August 26, 2005) and was remanded to the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. A mug shot of Craco is attached with this news release. A Jefferson County judge has sealed the arrest affidavit and other documents associated with the case. The case is still preliminary in nature, and detectives will continue with follow-up investigation. (FOR THE NEWS)
