Steve Jennison stands and waives his desk flag when he needs attention to more clearly answer a question posed by a caller on the phone. In this case it was a person trapped in a home attic with water rising seeking evacuation assistance. The Disaster Response Call Center, 444 Sherman St., Denver, Colo., has 15 volunteer call agents taking phone calls and aiding wherever possible in relief of hurricane Katrina.
