BelMar Children's Hour occurs within the BelMar Complex, Lakewood, Colo., in the park and in the studio called Flash Gallery, 7124 W. Alaska Drive. This Monday, September 12, 2005 was entitled "Fly Me To The Moon", and is sponsored by the Children's Museum of Denver, Colo. The event has been weekly June thru September 27, 2005, on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm each day. Each day a different idea is presented. Sometimes during peak attendance, up to 40 children attended. Today it was only five but they had a good time. The age range is 4-9 and the cost is $5.00. Today the kids learned about space, planets and our earth and built model rockets out of cut out paper and hand colored them to suit themselves then wrapped the paper around an inverted 35mm film plastic can which was filled with a combination of water and a quarter of a seltzer tablet, let set and the rocket launched with the combustible nature of the mixing of the two ingredients. Then the kids got to help by pumping air on a larger rocket to help it launch to the sky.....all information from Brooke Ferguson, group and outreach programs coordinator, children's museum, 303-561--0113.....(all kids approved from parents as they were picked up at the end of the day. spellings came from brooke and her attendance sheet of information)...
