Dorothy Ciszek (cq), of Evergreen, puts a doll into a box at a rally at the State Capitol for contributions from citizens for the victims of hurricane Katrina in Denver, Colo., on Thursday, September 8, 2005. Dorothy brought 18 stuffed animals, 22 dolls, 11 balls, 2 trucks and 1 chess set for the children. "I've been waiting for the opportunity to give these to kids who have been traumatized," said Ciszek. "My hope is that they get them right away." The benefit, entitled "Concerned Coloradans," was a bipartisan effort to take contributions of clothing, toys, toiletries, bottled water and funds for the hurricane victims. The event was sponsored by the Colorado General Assembly, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, 5280 Magazine, KGNU Radio and others. (CHRIS SCHNEIDER/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ** Dorothy Ciszek (cq)
