COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will administer the oath of citizenship to 157 people, including 35 military members, on August 30 at 9:30am at the Garden of the Gods (1805 N. 30th Street). Those being naturalized come from 57 nations. The ceremony is hosted by Congressman Joel Hefley. At this ceremony, for the first time in recent history in Colorado, USCIS will award a posthumous naturalization certificate to a Marine who died in Iraq. Lance Corporal Evenor Herrera will be honored with citizenship. His mother and stepfather, Blanca and David Stibbs, will be onhand to accept the certificate. Mrs. Stibbs has agreed to interviews, but may need Mr. Stibbs' help with translation. LCpl Herrera, 22, a citizen of Honduras, fell victim to an improvised explosive device at Ar Ramadi on August 10.
