Tera Jones, 15, center, a sophmore at Denver School of Science and Technology, picks a student's name out a plastic pumpkin, held by Rudi Armstrong (cq), rt, director of admissions and student/family services, during the morning meeting. The winning student gets a free "dress down" day, allowing him or her to dress more casually than the school's dress code normally allows. The names in the pumpkin were students who attended a family picnic a week earlier. The DPS charter high school starts every morning in Greenberg Commons, where students and faculty gather in a large circle for announcements and various other activities, including this raffle. Students who are late to school have to apologize to the group during this meeting. (ELLEN JASKOL/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ***Rudi Armstrong (cq), Tera Jones (from Rudi Armstrong)
