Ryan listens to a question from the media. Ryan Sullivan, (cq), 12, was awarded an official Lafayette Police Citizen's Commendation. The award was given by Lafayette Police Chief Paul D. Schultz (cq) at City Hall, 1290 S. Public Road, Lafayette, Colo., Monday August 8, 2005. The award recognized how Ryan's quick reaction to his mother having a medical problem in the car while driving stopped the moving car and potentially saved many lives. Nobody was injured. The cast on Ryan's arm was another obstacle for the youth. He had just broken his arm while skateboarding and fresh from getting the cast put in the sling he was on the way with his mom to the pharmacy to get some required medicine. When she lost control of the car and stepped on the accelerator Ryan quickly pulled his mom's leg off and jumped on the brake with both feet as hard as he could. (STEVEN R.
