(LAKEWOOD, Colo., January 18, 2005) J.J. Beattie stands holding a donations bucket adjacent to her son, Josh,3, with goggles on. She is a victims advocate and came to help gather donations with her kids. Many were generous. Josh was enthused and eager to help. They live in Lakewood, CO. U-Pump-It gas station, 11800 W. Colfax Ave. is the location where owner Moti Lal was shot December 9, 2004 during a robbery and remains to this day in intensive care at a hospital. He has no insurance. People were asked to come buy gas today. It is only the second day the station has been reopened since the tragedy. Many were generous. One person even laid a $500 check on the family to help defray medical expenses. Off duty Lakewood police officers, in uniform, spent the day, 11am-6pm, playing filling attendants doing everything from gas fill-ups to full car window washings to oil checks and windshield washer fluid fill ups.
