(LAKEWOOD, Colo., January 18, 2005) Lakewood Police Commander Jim Coleman works hard on a windshield of Mary Haman who enjoyed the attention. Ms. Haman came all the way from Bailey, CO after seeing reports on t.v. last night and discussing it with her husband and deciding it was worth the effort to show how much she cared and wanted to contribute. U-Pump-It gas station, 11800 W. Colfax Ave. is the location where owner Moti Lal was shot December 9, 2004 during a robbery and remains to this day in intensive care at a hospital. He has no insurance. People were asked to come buy gas today. It is only the second day the station has been reopened since the tragedy. Many were generous. One person even laid a $500 check on the family to help defray medical expenses. Off duty Lakewood police officers, in uniform, spent the day, 11am-6pm, playing filling attendants doing everything from gas fill-ups to full car window washings to oil checks and windshield washer fluid fill ups.
