August 6, 2005 - Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center is the first stop for new inmates into the state prison system. Officer Joe Sheriff (cq) works intake of new prisoners being transported from county jails to the reception center. After he takes an inventory of their property and goes through what the offenders can and cannot take with them to prison, he hand the bag of personal items back and they are put into a holding cell until they are taken to the next phase. On average there are 35- 45 offenders passing through the DRDC everyday, but was built to handle 15 to 20 a day. (JUDY DEHAAS/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) Joe Sheriff (cq)
