A Bull Elk bugles to attract females and to intimidate other males in Moraine Park Wednesday evening September 21, 2005 in Rocky Mountain National Park. The Elk Rut is under way in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Each autumn this happens during the mating season with the sounds of bugling heard in the meadows. The rut is an important time in the life cycle of an elk. (KEN PAPALEO / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ***(info from RMNP handout)
