Amy E. Voigt September 8, 2005 David Thompson (cq), sits at the bottom of the stairwell at the Porter's, his host family in Hoover, and writes a narrative about his experience during Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent evacuation from New Orleans. Thompson and his son John, 16, were evacuated from the New Orleans Civic Center and bussed to Birmingham for refuge. Thompson has not been able to reach his wife or other two sons that were evacuated before him. He believes that they are safe in Baton Rouge but he has no way to contact them.
