A bull Elk bugles to attract females and to intimidate other males in Moraine Park Thursday morning September 22, 2005 in Rocky Mountain National Park. Autumn is their mating season and it is an important time in the life cycle of an elk. It is also important in the cycle of the visitors to the park. This familiar high pitched sound echoes through the meadow. This sound also heralds colder temperature and that snow is not long off. (KEN PAPALEO / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ***(info from RMNP handout)
