CW2 Gabriel Torney (cq, on crutches), 27, walks out of the chapel with his dad retired CW4 Jim Torney (cq, left) after a Memorial Ceremony for four 3rd Armored Cavalry soldiers killed in Iraq at the Solidiers' Memorial Chapel on the base at Fort Carson Wednesday September 21, 2005. The memorial honored the ultimate sacrifice made by Second Lieutenant Charles Rubado, Chief Warrant Officer Dennis Hay, Specialist Robert Swaney and Specialist Joseph Martinez. Gabriel Torney was in a helicopter with CWO Hay in Iraq when the two were shot at and forced to make an emergency landing. Hay did not survive the attack and Torney was injured but expects to make a full recovery. Torney credits Hay with saving his life.
