Veronica Apav, right front red shirt, from New Orleans, La., with her son Gabe Apav, left, and her daughters by her side relates horror stories of the days following Huricane Katrina. Apav related that the lawlessness of the looting and people killing each other was the worst part that forced her family out of New Orleans. The Apav family were just a few of an expected 1,000 refugees/evacuees from New Orleans who arrived Sunday morning September 4, 2005. They are to be housed at dormitories at the Community College of Denver at Lowry. (EVAN SEMON / ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
