Tamara Hernandez (cq) of Montrose holds the wallet of her son, Adam, showing off a picture of a lesbian friend of his that he kept in his wallet. Twenty-four-year-old Todd Fiske and 21-year-old Adam Hernandez, both of Montrose, have been charged in the death of Kevin Hale, a local gay man in small Colorado town. They have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the 36-year-old Montrose man. His body was found in Buckley Park on July 29, 2005 and family and friends believe Hale was killed because he was gay. Tamara said the implication that Adam may have been involved in a hate crime is ridiculous because he had gay friends and always told her that "it's about the love, not the hate". Adam's lesbian friend was named "Stacy" but Tamara didn't know her last name and said she has moved to California after getting married in Montrose.
