96 year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner Sir Joseph Rotblat, one of the only surviving members of the original Manhattan Project, will speak at a rare a public appearance May 7 as part of his weekend with Arvada-based PeaceJam. Rotblat, who left the Manhattan Project after reservations over the atomic bomb, was awarded the Nobel Prize for his formation of the Pugwash Conference, which formalized his fight against the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Rotblat, who lives in England, will meet with high school kids next weekend as part of PeaceJam. (photo provided to Rocky Mountain News)
