Joy Bishop (cq) left, gets into a discussion with Jennifer Durbin (cq) center, and her husband Paul Durbin (cq) right, over the Commerce City City Council Emergency Ordinance 1593 which would regulate pit bulls in Commerce City while attending a city council meeting on August 1, 2005. Joy has a Boston terrier she said was attacked by a pit bull mix and then again by a male pit bull and is in support of the ordinance. The Durbin's, wearing buttons that stand for banning breed specific legislation, own a pit bull and are against the proposed ordinance. The city council postponed duscussion on the ordinance until August 15, 2005, so the city staff could further examine specific aspects of the ordinance. The City Manager said that there is not a need to adopt an Emergency Ordinance and that a public hearing should be held at the regularly scheduled council meeting on Monday, August 15th.
