The Denver Police Department released their crime report June 16, 2005. Crime has gone up in Denver. After years of enjoying either decreases or relatively insignificant increases in crime, Denver saw an overall increase in crime of 2.1 percent, with a much bigger spike in violent crime of 23.2 percent. City officials say part of the increase is due to changes in the way crime is reported. Juanita Park (cq) lives in the public housing across from Lincoln Park and says that she feels like crime is down from a few years before, especially gang activity. She has lived in the Lincoln Park area for twelve years. (Judy Walgren/The Rocky Mountain News) Juanita Park (cq)
