The Denver Police Department released their crime report June 16, 2005. Crime has gone up in Denver. After years of enjoying either decreases or relatively insignificant increases in crime, Denver saw an overall increase in crime of 2.1 percent, with a much bigger spike in violent crime of 23.2 percent. City officials say part of the increase is due to changes in the way crime is reported. Crayton Jones (cq) has had his dry cleaning business, C&B Cleaners in Five Points for fifty years. He says that the people who do the statistics include Curtis Park and other surrounding neighborhoods in the Five Points statistics and that concerns him as a business owner. He feels that crime in Five Points might not be as bad as the numbers show for this reason. (Judy Walgren/The Rocky Mountain News) Crayton Jones (cq)
