(Denver, Colorado, 11/2/2005) Victor Smith (cq), who is HIV positive, blind and suffers from severe depression, is extremely relieved that Referendum C passed yesterday. If it had failed, he would have most likely lost his mental health medications he receives through Medicaid which would spiral him into a suicidal depression. He is leaving the Capitol Hill Action and Recreation Group (CHARG) Resource Center with his companion Blaze Wednesday night where he attends a depression support group meeting. The center, which offers a mental health clinic and a drop in center for people with severe and chronic mental illness would have had to shut its door, Victor said, if Ref C had not passed.
