Duane Helton (cq) of Kiowa walks along a ridgeline on the the former 70 Ranch near Kersey, Co. one afternoon. The ranch is slated to become a unique and innovative water exchange site for Colorado's water thirsty Front Range. Agricultural water from the South Platte River will be stored in an alluvial well underneath the ranch and slowly released back into the South Platte River for growing municipalities. The one of a kind program is a cooperative endeavor between the Farmer's Reservoir and Irrigation Company and United Water and Sanitation. Helton is a consulting engineer for United and Frico.
