Farmer's Reservoir and Irrigation Company general manager Manuel Montoya of Greeley points out a few features of the landscape on the former 70 Ranch near Kersey, Co. one afternoon. The ranch is slated to become a unique and innovative water exchange site for Colorado's water thirsty Front Range. Agricultural water from the South Platte River will be stored in an alluvial well underneath the ranch and slowly released back into the South Platte River for growing municipalities. The one of a kind program is a cooperative endeavor between the Farmer's Reservoir and Irrigation Company and United Water and Sanitation. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Manuel Montoya
