Pomona High School junior Mitchell Reid (cq, center), playing McDonwald, acts out a scene from Shakepeare's Macbeth with classmate Jesse Dorrough (cq, right), playing Macbeth, during a Junior Literature class at the school one day. Teacher Kathy Reed (not pictured) said that acting out scenes from the classic play helps the students retain the material and keeps them interested, both key components of learning. A task force of eight retired school teachers and administrators is spending a week at Pomona High School observing, talking with teachers, students and parents and making recommendations on how to raise CSAP scores to make sure the school is meeting the nationwide "No Child Left Behind" standard. Overall, CSAP scores at the school are pretty high but minority groups at the school lag behind and the school will ultimately be judged on its ability to raise the CSAP scores of such groups. If the school fails to raise its CSAP scores this next time around it will most likely lose its accreditation. Reid and Dorrough are both 16 years old and from Arvada.
