Old cars reinforce the banks of the Riverside Ditch near the 70 Ranch east of Kersey, Co. one afternoon. Junk vehicles were once commonly used to shore up irrigation ditches and are referred to jokingly as "rip-rap rock." The 70 Ranch is slated to become a water exchange site for Colorado's water thirsty Front Range. The one of a kind program is a cooperative endeavor between the Farmer's Reservoir and Irrigation Company and United Water and Sanitation. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ
