Fourteen year-old freshman Kevin Kassner (cq) of Arvada pauses to think while working on a math problem in teacher Jeremy Lustik's Pre-Algebra class one afternoon. The Pre-Algebra class is a class normally taken in one year but in this class is spread over two years. A task force of eight retired school teachers and administrators is spending a week at Pomona High School observing, talking with teachers, students and parents and making recommendations on how to raise CSAP scores to make sure the school is meeting the nationwide "No Child Left Behind" standard. Overall CSAP scores at the school are pretty high but minority groups at the school lag behind and the school will ultimately be judged on its ability to raise the CSAP scores of such groups.
