(DENVER, CO. 5/31/04) Jason Murray is a young Marine from Sterling, CO, who was seriously injured in combat in Iraq. His friends from the 2/4 Battalion here in Colorado and his friends and family got together at Craig Hospital West in the front courtyard and held a ceremony in memory of the soldiers who are in his battalion still in Iraq, for the men and women who have been killed in battle, and to show support for all Marines everywhere. Jason still has schrapnel in his body, is blind and has suffered among other things, severe injury to his brain. He walks with a cane. Brian Mathwich, 6, stands for the benediction during the ceremony, and his father Brian Mathwich Sr. stands behind him with his hands on his son's shoulders. Brian got an e-mail from a friend about the ceremony and being a fellow Marine, he felt like it was important for him to attend. He also felt like it was important for his son to know darker side of war. They live in Longmont, CO. (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS PHOTO BY JUDY WALGREN)
