Karen Rodriguez was convicted in Denver District Court on August 24th. Rodriguez was portrayed as a heinous mother who helped her husband rape her young son and daughter. Rodriguez, 40, faces sentencing on Monday between 16 and 48 years on counts of aggravated incest and sexual assault for abuse that spanned a decade. Kilgore waited until all were gone to take time to specifically thank the people who helped get her voice heard. She emotionally took their hands and thanked each for all they had done for her and her family. During the press conference she spoke of the rag doll her daughter so loved and the cats she use to dress up in doll clothes and how important she was to her life. She also extolled her innocence because she was more a victim of domestic violence. Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence held a news conference regarding the Karen Rodriguez case was held, Friday, October 21, 2005, within the CCADV offices, 4th floor, 1600 Downing St., Denver, Colorado. They said that Rodriguez is a battered woman. The coalition believes there were errors in the prosecution of Ms. Rodriguez and thus has endangered the lives of battered women.
