(5/15/05, Littleton, Colorado) Columbine High School's Mesha Italiano (cq), 17, photographed in her family's backyard on the trampoline, wants to be a kindergarten teacher one day. She will study at Metro in the Fall to get her degree in education. "In ten years from now I hope that I will be well into my career as a teacher, living in Colorado, probably. I am going to wait a while before getting married and having kids." "If I could change one thing about the world today, I would stop hatred, in general." "My parents have been the main factor in helping me succeed. They have supported me through everything and they will be there to support me in college and along the way. I think it really gives me the confidence I need to go forward. Also, my teacher Kiki Leyba, who taught my freshman English class, was someone in high school that I could always depend on. He is my mentor and also my friend and he was always there for me to talk to. He inspired me to become a teacher." (Judy Walgren/The Rocky Mountain News) Mesha Italiano (cq)
