Kalole Knight (cq), 11, lays down in her bunk bed while staying on the family floor of the Samaritan House in Denver, Colo., on Saturday, May 14, 2005. She is there with her mother, Adrienne Powell (cq), her sister and her two brothers. They have been at the shelter for 3 months. Adrienne was paroled from prison on motor vehicle theft and went to the shelter with her four children. Adrienne was in prison for 9 months while her mother took care of her children. Adrienne works as a certified nursing assistant for about 40 hours a week. She is trying to save money for an apartment and hopes to move out of the shelter in a month or two. "I Hope to get my own place so me and my kids can live together," said Powell. "I am working hard so I can be with my kids," Powell added.
